The Racial Equity Index invites you and your organisation to join us in transforming the global development sector by pushing forward with transparency and accountability on racial equity within and across organisations. 

The Racial Equity Index is launching our measurement tool that we have spent over 2 years developing through our community-informed process. In order to support organisations and the global development sector at large in their individual, organisational, and systemic efforts towards racial equity, we invite:

Organisations (large and small) that are non-profits, non-governmental organisations, charities, fiscally sponsored organisations, funder and donor organisations, etc. that work and operate in the global development sector to join the Racial Equity Index as Accountability Partners

FAQ’s

 How will being an Accountability Partner with the Racial Equity Index be useful to your organisation? 

  • We will guide your organisation through a process of introspection and reflection around its racial equity practices and identify the ways forward to begin addressing racism within the organisation and its work.

  • We will support your organisation in strengthening its capability for learning and transformation - both as it relates to internal ways of working and external ways of working. 

  • We will help generate and strengthen a sustainable culture of accountability, transparency, and anti-racism.

  • We will create a space of shared learning and collective change across the global development sector by connecting your organisation with others undergoing this same journey. 

  • We will collect data on racial equity in your organisation based on internal feedback from organisation staff, via the global development community informed and peer-reviewed survey tool - The Racial Equity Index.

What will be required from your organisation as an Accountability Partner?

  • To take the Racial Equity Index measurement tool three times (on entry to the program, on conclusion of the program and 12-18 months post program). All staff within the organisation should be encouraged to participate.

  • To share your organisational results of the Racial Equity Index.Your organisation can choose to either:

    • publish your scores publicly (with your organisation name attached) or 

    • have your data anonymised and reported as part of sector-wide data (your organisation will not be listed as part of the Index, but rather as an accountability partner on our website).

  • To participate in bimonthly learning cohort sessions developed by The Racial Equity Index with other organisations across the global development sector. 

  • To commit to (During the program - One half day per month for learning plus up to 5 days for other activities including REIndex measurement work).
